WORKPLACE RESTORATION

Rebuild Restore Word Cloud (Candal Font)

If a team is affected by disruptive conflict or workplace harassment (actual or perceived), a post-restorative process is recommended following the event(s) or conclusion of the investigation. This involves providing a psychologically safe space where team members can discuss how they want to be treated by each other and ultimately reach consensus on how they need to function to be successful.

If a manager's behavior is part of the problem, an emotional intelligence self-assessment (including a 360) and staff interviews can provide much needed information for the manager to focus their improvement efforts.  Follow up coaching sessions with the manager are recommended to help them gain further insight and develop an action plan for self-improvement. A workplace health / cultural assessment may also be needed to uncover other workplace issues which may be contributing to team dysfunction.

When such post-restorative steps are overlooked, the initial problem often resurfaces in unhealthy ways that affect productivity and morale, and a manager’s time is taken up with more interpersonal conflict and other HR related complaints.
