WORKPLACE HEALTH ASSESSMENTS

Workplace Health Assessments are also known as Workplace Culture Assessments. It is appropriate to conduct this type of intervention with one or more workplace departments when management is aware that staff are disgruntled and there are indications of inappropriate behaviours which are creating physical or psychological safety concerns. This type of assessment is often conducted in the absence of a formal complaint or when the results of a workplace investigation suggest that there are broader issues that may be affecting more individuals.

Workplace health assessments involve individual interviews with staff members to collect information on a confidential basis. With skilled questioning and thorough analysis of the data, individual behaviours and wider systemic issues can be uncovered. The common themes are then presented to management in a written report along with recommendations related to process, training, policy, and strategy to support a safe, respectful, and productive working environment.  This report does not contain any identifying information that would compromise anonymity or confidentiality. Once management has decided on an action plan, the Assessor can present the general concerns from the report in a separate staff meeting where management can voice their commitments to various recommendations.

If the team is displaying dysfunctional characteristics such as a lack of trust or cohesiveness among members, a workplace restoration process may also be recommended. Click here to read more.
